Briefing Service
WHY DO YOU NEED A CORONA BRIEFING? BECAUSE WE HAVE SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO OFFER! One of the main services that Corona offers to members and non-members alike is a Briefing Service. This is designed to help anyone going to live in a foreign country for the first time, or relocating to a different foreign country, by providing them with up-to-date and practical information that is not always available elsewhere. In addition, the Briefing Sevice can often offer contacts in the country to which the client is going, so that, on arrival, they feel that there is at least one friendly voice on the end of the telephone.
THE BRIEFING SERVICE IS ORGANISED AS FOLLOWS:-
Stage one :- The Initial Contact. this is when we establish your priorities
-
are you going alone, or taking a family?
-
what is the length of your contract?
-
have you lived and worked abroad before?
-
are there special requiremments - information on health, education, finance, removing?
-
is there any specific information, cultural or social, you would like to have relating to the country to which you are going?
Once we have this background information we will look for a suitable Briefer. This will be someone who has recent knowledge of the country or region in questionand who can spreak from first hand experience. In some cases itmay be necessary to find more than one Briefer.
The task of the Briefer is to provide practical, current information which is relevant to your particular circumstances. It will cover living conditions, type of housing, services and other related issues, the cultural milieu, facilities for shopping, opportunities for sport and other forms of recreation, security problems, if there are any, and anything else which a Briefer feels a newcomer should know.
Stage Two:- The Briefing.
you can choose the kind of Briefing that would suit you best.
1). A 'Cultural' or 'Daily Living Briefing' - A meeting with a Briefer and a member of the Briefing Team. These meetings are very relaxed and usually last about two hours. Light refreshments are included. This format is very popular. It suits those who already have overseas experience. It is also suitable for a particular slot in the wider briefing which your Company or Employer may offer. The location of the Briefing will depend on the people concerned and could perhaps be at the clients office or at Corona's Headquarters. If it is more convenient, you may prefer to arrange your own meeting place.
2). A 'Telephone Briefing' - this is suitable if you are going overseas at very short notice and only have time for a telephone discussion.
3). An 'E-mail Briefing' - An exchange of e-mails, quite often with someone still living overseas, is sometimes the best option and can be combined with any other form of Briefing in order to augment and update information.
WHAT CAN CORONA OFFER THAT IS DIFFERENT?
For nearly 60 years we've had members who have lived abroad. In that time we have established branches in many countries and contacts in others, either through our own members or through links with similar organisations whose members are willing to help a new expatriate settle in and offer friendship and support. Moving to another country is not always easy. Having a contact can make all the difference.
CONTACTS OVERSEAS
For women who attend a briefing will receive a year's free membership of Corona so that they are eligible for these introductions.
CONTACTS ON RETURNING TO THE UK
On returning to the UK, members are contacted by our Returners Co-ordinator who can provide details of Corona activities as well as arrange an introduction to a nearby branch, where appropriate.
